SECTION II - REQUIRED ESSAY QUESTIONS
These questions are required for the Foundation General Scholarship, STA Scholarship and the Globe Trot Scholarship. You do not answer these questions for the Diversity Scholarship. Please go to Section V for the Diversity Scholarship Requirements.The following information will be reviewed by the Foundation for Asia Pacific Education Scholarship Committee. If necessary, please repeat any answers from previous pages of the application.
Please provide detailed responses to the following short essay questions. Your answers should not be more than 500 words per question. DO NOT include your name or your home university in any of your answers.
It is highly suggested that you write your answers first and then copy and paste them into the boxes below. Grammar and spelling is important.
1. Describe in more detail the nature of your program, including subjects to be undertaken (if applicable), as well as experiences outside of tourism and travel during program, such as volunteerism, etc. *
2. Why did you decide on the country, program and university or organization/company abroad which you have chosen? *

SECTION III - STA TRAVEL SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION (Optional )
Please provide detailed responses to the following short essay questions. DO NOT include your name or your home university in any of your answers.
Students must have one of the following majors in order to apply for the STA Travel Scholarship:
Photography
Film and Art
Travel and Tourism
International Business
International Studies or
Foreign Language.
Please note: If you are chosen as a recipient of this award, you will be required to blog weekly during your time abroad through STA Travel and the Foundation web sites. You will also be required to write a 1,000 word essay for the Foundation upon your return. Detailed requirements for the essay will be provided to you. Lastly, STA Travel expects you to take photographs and make them available to the company for their promotional use. Detailed requirements and a photographic release will be provided upon receipt of the award.
IN ADDITION TO ESSAY QUESTIONS 1-5 ABOVE , please complete the essay questions below.
Outline the approach you will take to documenting your time abroad. Include how you will keep track of your experiences and what you will do to make your blog interesting and informative to others who may wish to have a similar experience.

SECTION IV – Globe Trot -- Employees, Family and Friends of GlobaLinks Learning Abroad Scholarship Information (Optional )
To be eligible for the Globe Trot Scholarship you must have a demonstrated community service background. Requirement: Applicants must send a letter of reference from an organization or individual with whom they have performed a community service project as part of their scholarship application.
In addition to general essay questions 1-5 above, please complete the essay question below:
The employees, family and friends of GlobaLinks Learning Abroad would like to award this scholarship to a student who demonstrates an active commitment to community service. Recipients of this scholarship are encouraged to take part in community service during their time abroad.
Please describe your past and present volunteer work, and address how you hope to see your community involvement continued into the future.
SECTION V – DIVERSITY ABROAD / GLOBALINKS LEARNING ABROAD SCHOLARSHIP (Optional )
Please note: Applicants applying for ONLY the Diversity Abroad Scholarship are not required to complete the General Application Essay Questions .

All Foundation for Asia Pacific Education award disbursements are made based on verification of enrollment in the said study abroad program. Award disbursements can be made direct to your study abroad program to offset your fees or will be paid direct to students upon confirmation of paid program fees. Award disbursement dates are not fixed and may, in fact, be after program commencement.
